Why Study Media Make‑up?
You will be taught skills including:
- Developing creative concepts from research, drawing and painting
- Illustration, sculpting, special effects (FX), prosthetics and body art
- Hair styling, wig making, and creating characters for film, TV or theatre
- Some digital media techniques, including CGI where applicable and portfolio work to support progression into higher education or the creative sector.

You’ll be challenged creatively, using both hands‑on and digital techniques to bring to life characters and concepts. This career offers lots of variety and the unique chance to see your work featured on screen, stage or in promotional work.
Many of our learners start on a Level 3 programme and progress to the Media Make‑up BA (Hons) at University Centre Somerset, while others embark in a variety of careers from hair and beauty to special effects.
