UCS College Group Governors Unite to Drive Future Vision

📆 Thursday 15 October

UCS College Group recently celebrated a significant milestone as governors from across the region attended the first UCS College Group Governors’ conference.

The conference brought together members of the Local College Boards (LCBs) and the UCS College Group Board. It gave governors the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the individual colleges’ ambitions, key projects and educational priorities, fostering a stronger sense of collective purpose.

We have bold ambitions for our students and communities. Bringing people together from across the Group gave us the opportunity to share our vision, mission and values, and to reflect on the impact each College – and the Group as a whole – is having and will have on students and their communities. It was also a valuable opportunity to consider our ambitions and the strategic roadmap that will help us achieve them.

Andy Berry

CEO, UCS College Group

Central to the day’s discussions was the Group’s core vision: Pioneer, Collaborate, Inspire and Transform. The leadership team from UCS College Group presented how each College’s strategic roadmap integrates with these pillars, ensuring that innovation and partnership remain at the forefront of the Group’s development.

The discussions highlighted a steadfast commitment to Inspiring Students and Transforming Communities, reinforcing the idea that while each College is embedded in their local community, they are united by a shared goal.

Strengthening Governance and Impact

The conference enabled LCB members to see the “bigger picture” of the Group’s operations, emphasising how collaborative governance enhances the student experience. By bridging the gap between local oversight and group-wide strategy, UCS College Group is better positioned to meet the evolving needs of Somerset’s learners and employers.
