Students and staff across UCS College Group came together for Comic Relief 2026, raising over £800 in support of the charity’s work.
One of the standout moments of this year’s fundraising efforts was the annual Comic Relief Walk, which brought together participants from across all four colleges. Setting off from Bridgwater College, the group followed the scenic canal path all the way to Taunton College, with 55 walkers completing the 27km journey. Together, they achieved a remarkable combined distance of 1,485km, an achievement equivalent to travelling from Bridgwater to Lisbon in a straight line or climbing Mount Everest 84 times.
Participants spoke proudly of both their personal achievements and the supportive atmosphere throughout the day.

Building on the success of the group walk, individual colleges also hosted a variety of activities to continue the fundraising efforts. At Bridgwater College, staff and students took part in a “4 Bikes, 4 Hours” cycling challenge, collectively covering 98.3km on spin bikes.
At Taunton College, students and staff contributed further through a “Comic Relief at the Gym” initiative, adding 119km to the overall total, with one sports group alone achieving an impressive 74km. The Taunton College Students’ Union also hosted a lively Staff versus Student basketball match, bringing together participants of all abilities in a fun, competitive and inclusive environment.
Across all activities, the grand total distance covered for Comic Relief reached an incredible 1,702km, reflecting the dedication and collective effort of students and staff across the UCS College Group. Funds raised will go towards supporting life changing projects delivered by Comic Relief, helping to create lasting impact both locally and globally.
