In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, UCS College Group welcomed over 2,500 students from across Somerset to its apprenticeship fair earlier this month. The event showcased the diverse apprenticeship opportunities available, aiming to inspire students to explore career paths that combine education with real-world experience.
Throughout the day, school children in years 9 to 11 engaged with industry professionals, participated in hands-on activities, and learnt about various apprenticeship programmes in sectors such as healthcare, sport, engineering, and digital technology.
This initiative not only exposed students to exciting career possibilities but also emphasised the importance of skilled talent in driving the success of local organisations and businesses.
National Apprenticeship Week provided a unique opportunity to showcase the incredible potential of apprenticeships and the vital role they play in our economy. By bringing together students from across Somerset, we fostered a culture of learning and collaboration that empowers the workforce of tomorrow.
Highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships not only supports our local businesses by providing them with a skilled workforce but also helps retain talent within the region. Investing in our young people is essential for ensuring the economic vitality of Somerset and beyond. We were excited to witness the enthusiasm of these students as they explored the opportunities that lie ahead and took their first steps toward their future careers.

I think we must have achieved some kind of record for the number of people we spoke to! In my 11 years at Mulberry doing these events, this event was the best in terms of engagement and the event as a whole. Our team really enjoyed themselves, and we are looking forward to a great year ahead in partnership with UCS College Group.
